The Villa Mdicis soup plate has the relaxed breadth of a garden table piece, with a shallow well and gently irregular rim. Its quiet classical profile lets the luminous glaze and traces of dark clay do the ornamenting.

Handmade in Paris from black terracotta, each piece is stamped with the Astier de Villatte monogram and the initials of the artisan who crafted it. Subtle variations in form, surface and glaze are integral to its character.
