Lovely early survivals, these elegant Queen Anne Period table candlesticks are turned from solid yew wood. The slightly domed and dished circular bases, turned from the solid, have single baluster turned stems attached by the original turned screw threads. The profile of the balusters have two ball knows enclosing a lovely slightly pear shaped central stem and they terminate in classic sockets with everted rims. Wooden candlesticks from this period are extraordinarily rare, and this pair are made from premium selected timber and have a wonderful rich burnished surface and deep original patina. Fine examples.
