When Michael Wainwright first started out, he used to hand apply gold and platinum crackle finishes to his work. They were beautiful, but inconsistent; sometimes the crackle was huge and sometimes it was tiny.The Amalfi collection is reminiscent of his original collection, and is inspired from the sun reflecting off of the beautiful blues and whites from Wainwrights’ time spent on the coast in Italy.

Michael Wainwright has been getting his hands dirty in clay since the age of 7. When he graduated from NYU in 1991 with a degree in clay sculpture, he didn’t know what to do for a living, so he sold his handmade wares in street fairs and craft shows around New York City on weekends, carting his wares on a handtruck on the subway. Now Michael Wainwright USA sells to stores big and small across the country, and Michaelthinks he has finally figured out what he wants to do in life.
