A charming antique find from the late 19th century, this Socit Cramique Maestricht stick spatterware plate is a wonderful example of the beautiful everyday pottery that brings so much character to a French country home. Dating to the 1890s, this cream earthenware plate features a lovely garland of flowers and leaves, decorated in a cheerful palette of cobalt blue, brick red, and green. The distinctive stick spatterware technique gives the design a wonderful handmade quality, created by applying painted sponge shapes to the surface before glazing.

Founded in 1851 in Maestricht, the Socit Cramique became known for producing fine earthenware admired throughout Europe. This delightful plate would be equally at home displayed on a kitchen wall, tucked into an antique cupboard, or layered into a collected table setting where its age and history add warmth and personality. It has beautiful antique character with age-appropriate wear, a tight hairline visible only on the reverse, and minor edge wear that speaks to its long history and authentic charm.
