A very rare circa 1811-1826 Transfer Tea Cup & Saucer made by Societe Ceramique. The pattern is called “Orphans”, a deep ink black transfer design that features two young girls standing in a floral garden in front of a church. Inside the cup, amid the floral garlands and lacy patterns, is a center scene of the same bucolic village church.

What a beautiful decorative cup and saucer, from a time when tea was precious, and tea cups came without handles. There is a gap in the transfer on the plate as shown, not unusual in early transfer ware. There are two chips on the foot rim of the cup. What a treasure to add to your collection of antique French and English country transfer ware from the 19th century.

  • Measures-cup: 3-1/2″ x 2-1/2″h; saucer 5-1/2″.
