An architectural empire motif appears to unfold around this tall cylindrical vase. The trompe-loeil image, drawn from John Derians archive, gives the simple handmade form a curious sense of expansion and grandeur.

Created by John Derian for Astier de Villatte, each piece is handmade in Paris from black terracotta and stamped with the Astier de Villatte monogram and the initials of the artisan who crafted it. Subtle variations in form, surface and glaze are integral to its character.
