A well matched set of early nineteenth century vernacular chairs, made primarily from ash and elm. This set benefits from having solid plank seats rather than the more common rush seating. They have elegant turned spindle backs and delightfully curved bentwood horizontal rails. They have a good rich honey colour and untouched surface and all are in good strong functional condition. Typical of the style made in Shropshire in the north midlands from where there is a fine history of regional chair making
