Philman Harvey is a Hopi artist from First Mesa (including villages like Polacca, Arizona) in northeastern Arizona, known for carving traditional Kachina dolls (also spelled Katsina or Katsinam). These dolls are hand-carved from cottonwood root and represent Hopi spirit beings that play important roles in ceremonies, teaching, and cultural traditions.
