Santa Clara Pueblo Turtle Pottery by Alvin Baca is a specific style of traditional Native American pottery from Santa Clara Pueblo in New Mexico. Alvin Baca is a well-known potter from this pueblo, born in 1966. He comes from a renowned pottery familyhe is the son of acclaimed potter Angela Baca (who pioneered the ribbed “melon jar” style) and grandson of Severa and Cleto Tafoya. Alvin learned the craft traditionally from his mother and is recognized for creating redware and blackware pieces, often featuring the signature ribbed melon jars, bear paw designs, and other classic Santa Clara motifs.
