About the Skutt GM1014 Studio Series Glass Kiln

Perfect Studio Size – This is Skutts most popular kiln in the Studio Series. Its 23″ wide chamber with 14″ depth can fit the majority of projects most studio artists create.

The top and side firing elements of the GM1014 make this kiln fire very evenly allowing for glass projects to heat at a uniform rate. The Studio Series kilns are amoung the most popular amoung serious home fusers. Their ecenomical price coupled with their large firing chambers make them flexible and affordable.

Sophisticated, Yet Easy to Use Controller

GlassFire Mode allows you to write a program simply by choosing your technique and the speed. Its that easy!

Write your own firing programs with up to 8 Segments using Ramp and Hold. Now you can store up to 12 programs.

Built in Diagnostics give you or our technicians the ability to diagnose kiln problems with just a few button presses.

The Alarm feature allows you to set a temperature alarm that will notify you when the kiln is at peak temperature.

Adjust temperatures or hold times while the kiln is firing using Add Time or Add Temp or simply press Anneal Now to set your project and begin annealing it.

Use the Delay Start feature to fire the kiln when it is convenient for you to be there when the kiln reaches temperature.

Current Sensing Technology

Skutt is one of the few brands that installs a Current Sensor in every KilnMaster Kiln. This allows you to read the Amperage of each section of the kiln as well as the Voltage and Voltage Under Load.

Now with the touch of a few buttons you can give those readings over the phone to your kiln repair technician so they can troubleshoot the problem and make sure they have the correct parts when they come out for the repair. This Saves Time and Money.

Prior to the use of these current sensors someone would have to come to your house and test the amperage and voltage inside the control box with live wires exposed. This system is Much Safer.

The Thermocouple
Exposed Thermocouple equals faster reaction time and higher accuracy.
Inexpensive, plus we give you an extra one when you buy your kiln.
Easy and quick to replace.
Type S (Platinum) Upgrades Available.

Balanced Elements
As most of you probably already know, glass is very susceptible to uneven heating. The more uneven the heat is in the kiln chamber, the slower you need to fire the kiln. Side fired kiln owners understand this, and are willing to trade the disadvantages of having to slow their programs down for advantages of being able to fire on multiple levels.

Our Studio Kiln Series have lid elements and side elements. This does not mean you can fire on multiple levels. The side elements are there to replenish heat on the bottom of the kiln. This not only keeps the shelf warm (which is important), it also provides for uniform heat top to bottom for artists working with deep molds and drop molds.

The Warranty
Unlike most warranties, Skutts covers Parts AND Labor.
Never Pro-Rated.
Serviced by the most extensive, knowledgeable and talented distributor network in the industry.
Backed by a company whose mission statement is We help you make great things. When your kiln is down, you cant make great things.

Sectional Design

Moving – Imagine trying to move a kiln into the basement or through a narrow door without being able to break it down into sections.

Repair – No more standing on your head in the kiln to replace those bottom elements or removing every brick in the kiln to get to the one you want to replace. Just remove the control box, unhook the buckles and place the section you want to work on on a table.

Replacement – We hope nothing really bad happens to your kiln but if it does, isnt nice to know you can replace one bad section instead of the whole kiln?

The Lid Lifter
Optional on the GM1014
Lift 100lbs with ease!
All stainless construction.
Easy and safe to tension.
Adjustable Rolling Stand
Most Skutt Kilns come with a stand but often times it is nice to be able to roll the kiln out of the way when not in use or to clean under. Now Skutt makes a heavy duty rolling stand for most of it’s kiln models.
And So Much More!
When you are buying a kiln, you are not just buying the equipment, you are also buying the service that comes before and after the sale. From the moment Skutt cuts that first brick to the day you open the box, to the day you are ready to retire it, Skutt’s reputation is on the line and we take that very seriously.< td>
